The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has announced temporary restrictions on the circulation of heavy goods vehicles across Kosovo’s highways for today. The measure affects cargo transport vehicles whose total mass exceeds 20 tons. The restriction is scheduled to be in effect from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM, a timeframe set due to the official temperature forecast predicting temperatures of 32°C or higher.
This temporary measure aims to manage traffic flow and ensure safety under high heat conditions. While the movement of vehicles exceeding 20 tons is restricted on the main highways, the Ministry confirmed that circulation on national, regional, and connecting roads remains unrestricted for these heavy vehicles. Crucially, certain categories of vehicles are exempt from these temporary limitations.
These exemptions include all vehicles belonging to law enforcement agencies, public security organs, emergency services, and health institutions. The Ministry advised all commercial operators and economic entities to adhere to the stipulated timings and restrictions. The guidelines are intended to ensure the safe passage of goods while mitigating potential risks associated with extreme heat.
Operators are urged to plan their logistics accordingly to comply with the temporary adjustments to the standard circulation patterns for vehicles weighing over 20 tons across Kosovo’s infrastructure today.
