American Chambers of Commerce views the treatment of the company “Vita” as a deterioration of the business environment.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo voiced significant concern over the extensive inspection carried out yesterday at the facilities of “Vita” dairy. This inspection took place at one of Kosovo’s largest producing companies, a major taxpayer, and an enterprise considered instrumental in developing the local food processing and production sector. The sheer number of inspectors deployed for a single company has prompted the American Chamber to raise concerns regarding the proportionality, necessity, and underlying purpose of the intervention.

While the American Chamber fully supports the enforcement of established laws and acknowledges the responsibility of state institutions to safeguard public and consumer health, it stressed that such competencies must always be exercised proportionally. The scale of the inspection at the major American-affiliated company suggests an unprecedented level of oversight. The Chamber emphasized that while regulatory action is necessary, the scope of such actions must align with established principles of proportionality in governance.

The concerns center on ensuring that regulatory measures are both effective and appropriately scaled to the specific situation at the American-invested company.
