An Albanian citizen accused of cultivating approximately 11,000 narcotic plants was extradited from Spain.

Albanian Citizen to Be Extradited from Spain Following International Investigation

Following a coordinated operation between Interpol Tirana and Spanish authorities, the extradition of Algert Zeneli, a 26-year-old resident of Milot, Albania, is set to proceed. The citizen was previously wanted internationally due to outstanding criminal charges. The extradition order stems from a ruling by the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Shkodra, which had imposed pre-trial detention on Zeneli in connection with multiple offenses.

These charges include the cultivation of narcotic plants, the production and sale of narcotics, the operation of an organized criminal group, and offenses committed by criminal organizations. Investigations, which commenced in 2023, focused on activity within the Kir Pult Administrative Unit, as well as surrounding areas near Thet village in Albania. Authorities believe Zeneli was involved in these illicit activities.

The extradition process, part of the ongoing “The Wanted” operation, has now been finalized. Details regarding the transfer are currently being coordinated. This marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat organized crime and bring individuals involved in narcotics trafficking to justice.
