Macedonian Foreign Minister Faces Criticism Following Remarks to Bulgarian Counterpart
Skopje – Macedonian Foreign Minister Timço Mucunksi faced scrutiny following a recent interview with Alsat television, where he addressed comments made to his Bulgarian counterpart, Professor Mersell Bilalli. During the discussion, Mucunksi reportedly issued a reprimand to Bilalli. Bilalli responded, stating that the international community lacks the time to engage with the perspectives of the Macedonian leadership.
He argued that the current global climate demands a focus on practical solutions rather than dwelling on perceived grievances. “Those little ones just came and laughed,” Bilalli stated, referencing historical tensions. “The logic of the little one who thinks he is threatened, he thinks that the whole world should speak with the dictionary they have in their heads.
But the world is free, it doesn’t have time to think what the establishment in Macedonia thinks, which they use as rhetoric and which they prefer.”
The exchange centered on scheduled diplomatic visits to the region. Bilalli suggested these visits may have implicitly discouraged their undertaking. He emphasized that the world does not think as Mucunski thinks.
The comments have prompted debate regarding Macedonia’s approach to international relations and the role of rhetoric in diplomatic discourse.
