Investigation Launched into Alleged Abuse of Public Property in Kosovo
Pristina – Environment and Spatial Planning Minister Fitore Pacolli has responded to today’s action by the Basic Public Prosecution Office in Pristina, indicating longstanding concerns regarding potential abuses and organized crime involvement in the alienation of public properties. Through a social media post, Pacolli stated that there have been serious doubts for a long time concerning suspicious procedures involving the transfer of semi-hectare plots. The Basic Prosecution’s investigation centers on the Kosovar Cadastral Agency.
Details released indicate that concerns arose during the agency’s operations, with Pacolli asserting that responsible institutions had often failed to adequately prevent these activities. She further suggested that, in some instances, individuals within these institutions may have been implicated in contributing to the problem. Since assuming her role as minister, Pacolli has implemented measures to address this issue, including appointing a new director of the Kosovar Cadastral Agency and initiating efforts to review existing processes.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Prosecution is gathering evidence to determine the extent of any wrongdoing. Pacolli emphasized the need for transparency and accountability within the government’s handling of public assets.
