Cakolli: “Discussions” on the matter of the President were preparations for the June 7th election campaign.

KDI Analyst Attributes “Discussions” on Presidential Matter to Upcoming Election Campaign

Tirana – Eugen Cakolli, a researcher from the KDI (Kosovo Democratic Institute), has stated that recent public “discussions” concerning the Presidential election were strategically planned preparation for the June 7th early election campaign. Speaking on April 20, 2026, Cakolli indicated that the primary objective of these discussions wasn’t the selection of a President, but rather the systematic documentation of dissenting opinions and the public articulation of reasons for failure. Cakolli explained that this approach was already underway, anticipating an increase in public criticism and debate in the coming weeks.

He characterized the period as a deliberate strategy to establish a framework for justifying the circumstances leading to the early election. “The entire recent period of ‘discussions’ regarding the Presidential matter has simply been preparation for the June 7th early election campaign,” Cakolli stated. “More than the election of the President, the aim appears to have been the archiving of rejections.”

The upcoming election is scheduled for June 7th, following a decision to hold a premature vote.

Analysts are observing the evolving political landscape and the strategies employed by various parties.
