Criminal Investigation Launched in Tetovo Over Alleged Financial Misconduct

The Tetovo Department of Internal Affairs has opened a criminal investigation against two individuals from the village of Përshevcë, Tetovo region, on suspicion of abusing their positions and aiding in illicit activities. The investigation targets I.E. (42) and J.E.

(31). The charges stem from alleged actions taken between June 2, 2022, and October 5, 2022, while I.E. was employed as a data entry operator at the Tetovo Social Work Center.

According to initial findings, I.E. is accused of transferring unauthorized funds totaling 155,500 denars into J.E.’s account. These funds were purportedly intended for a third party, based on a decision regarding the exercise of a social pension right.

Furthermore, I.E. is alleged to have illegally obtained a social security number and linked it to J.E.’s transaction account to facilitate the transfer. The investigation is ongoing, and both individuals face charges of “abuse of power and official position” and “aiding and abetting.” Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and assess the full extent of the alleged offenses.
