Mickoski Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Nation, Denounces Ethnic Populism
Skopje – Prime Minister Hristjan Mickoski addressed concerns raised during today’s parliamentary session, asserting that his government will not allow manipulation of Albanian sentiment within North Macedonia. Speaking in response to questions from deputies, Mickoski directly addressed criticisms leveled by BDI representatives. The Prime Minister emphasized that no individual or group within the country opposes the use of the Albanian language, highlighting its importance for communities across North Macedonia.
He stated unequivocally that all citizens are valued equally, irrespective of their ethnic affiliation. “This is a new Macedonia of projects and reforms,” Mickoski declared, signaling a shift in government priorities. Responding to a specific inquiry from BDI deputy Ble, Mickoski strongly refuted accusations of engaging in ethnic populism.
He maintained that the government’s focus remains on national unity and equitable treatment for all residents. “No one is against the use of languages in North Macedonia that are used by parts of the population in certain territories or throughout the territory, in this case the Albanian language, and no one has ever disputed this,” Mickoski stated. The Prime Minister’s comments underscore a commitment to a unified national identity.
