The Kosovo Customs authorities have reported two distinct operations within the Prizren region, conducted by Anti-Smuggling Units. These actions focused on combating the illicit trade of goods. Specifically, a considerable amount of ethanol, boasting a concentration of 96%, was uncovered, believed to have been illegally imported into circulation to avoid customs duties.
During routine field control, the anti-smuggling teams intercepted a transport vehicle. A subsequent inspection revealed 500 liters of the high-proof ethanol, lacking any necessary documentation. Individuals connected to the vehicle were found without proof of legitimate origin, legal import, or payment of the required customs taxes.
Following the seizure of the vehicle, immediate operational-investigative procedures were initiated, alongside additional checks at locations identified as potential points of interest. Customs officials are actively working to ensure compliance with regulations and prevent the circumvention of tax laws. The investigation continues as part of the customs’ ongoing efforts to safeguard legitimate trade within Kosovo.
