Kosovo Chamber of Commerce Discusses Economic Challenges with Central Bank

Prishtina, Kosovo – Leaders from the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (dhtik) met with Governor Ahmet Ismaili of the Central Bank of Kosovo (BCK) to discuss a range of business-related topics. The meeting, held recently, focused on key challenges facing the Kosovan economy. Chairman of the dhtik Board, Skënder Krasniqi, addressed concerns regarding access to finance for businesses, alongside issues within the insurance sector, including the Green Card scheme.

Discussions also centered on areas falling under the BCK’s responsibilities. Executive Director Kushtrim Ahmeti expressed apprehension about the ongoing political instability. He stated that repeated elections are negatively impacting economic growth, specifically citing the continued blockage of vital legislation such as the Single Euro Payment Area (SEPA) framework.

Mr. Ahmeti noted that despite repeated appeals, political parties have not demonstrated the necessary commitment to enacting these crucial reforms. The meeting underscored the ongoing need for collaboration between the business community and the BCK to address these pressing economic topics within Kosovo.
