A residential home in Maryland sustained near-total damage after a fire originated from a dog accidentally igniting a toaster. Reports indicate that the incident, which occurred at Foxglove Court Street in Abingdon, resulted in estimated damages approaching $200,000. Abingdon firefighters responded to the scene where flames had already engulfed the structure.
Although the blaze was brought under control within approximately 20 minutes, the resulting damage was extensive. The incident tragically resulted in the loss of multiple pets. Prior to the arrival of emergency services, neighbors successfully rescued two dogs, identified as Bo and Addie, from the burning residence.
However, a third dog, Dakota, and two cats did not survive the fire. Authorities confirmed that no people were inside the house at the time of the incident, and consequently, there were no human injuries. Investigators examined the site and determined the cause of the fire to be related to the dog accidentally igniting the appliance.
The investigation concluded that the accidental ignition of the toaster was the source of the destructive fire.
