New Leadership Appointed for Kosovo Alliance (AKR)

The New Kosovo Alliance (AKR) finalized its leadership structure following the VI Extraordinary General Assembly, held on April 18, 2026. At the assembly, Emir Abrashi was elected as the party’s new leader, securing the support of a majority of delegates for a four-year term. The newly elected leadership team includes Liridon Llapashtica as General Secretary, alongside Gjergj Beka, Festina Kurteshi, and Bejtush Gashi who were appointed as vice presidents.

Petrit Makolli was designated Organizational Secretary, and Gëzim Rafuna was named Secretary for Relations with Abroad. Recognizing Behgjet Pacolli’s longstanding service and contributions to the AKR, he was bestowed with the title of Emeritus President. The assembly also saw the election of a new General Council to advise the party.

The process culminated in the formal selection of Emir Abrashi, solidifying his position at the helm of the AKR. This marks a significant transition for the party as it moves forward. Further details regarding the General Council’s composition are expected to be released shortly.
