LSDM Leader Attributes Road Block to Concerns Over Oversight
Skopje – Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDSM), Venko Filipçe, has stated that the ongoing blockade of the European road is not primarily driven by constitutional changes, but rather by concerns expressed by the Democratic Bricks – Party for Democratic Institutions and Unity – KDU-PDM (OBRM-PDUKM) regarding external oversight. Filipçe asserted that the proposed modifications to the Constitution pose no significant risk and that the OBRM-PDUKM’s narrative of “national risks” is a tactic to avoid scrutiny. He contends the group’s motivations involve seeking to exert control over the judiciary, media outlets, and other state institutions through party-aligned appointments.
The LDSM leader characterized the situation as an attempt to manipulate decision-making processes, specifically highlighting a desire to control the flow of economic activity and prioritize party-led tenders. He accused OBRM-PDUKM of intending to dictate outcomes and publicly announce processes, potentially disrupting economic stability. “This is the truth,” Filipçe stated.
“There is nothing wrong with including Bulgarians, Croats, and other minorities in the Constitution. They are enemies.” The comments reflect ongoing tensions surrounding the proposed constitutional amendments and the role of OBRM-PDUKM in the political landscape.
