Following the Tivat incident, Serbia retaliates against Montenegro – it stops passengers with Montenegrin passports at Belgrade Airport

Approximately 30 Montenegrin citizens were detained at Belgrade Airport last night after disembarking from an aircraft that arrived from Podgorica around midnight, following a delay of several hours. According to information provided to “Vijesti” by Dushan Cicmil and his legal representative, Miroje Jovanoviq, the passengers, who were exclusively men holding Montenegrin documents, had their passports confiscated and were moved to a separate room without any explanation for the restriction of their movement. The newspaper reported that the passengers, 28 of whom, were escorted to a separate area where several other Montenegrin citizens who had arrived from Barcelona were also held.

Reports indicated that the individuals were called in groups of five and subsequently moved to another room for additional checks. The detention occurred shortly after the aircraft’s arrival, following the reported delay. The measures taken against the Montenegrin passengers involved the seizure of their travel documents and their temporary isolation.

Authorities did not provide an immediate explanation for these security procedures implemented upon their arrival at Belgrade Airport. The incident drew attention to the handling of the Montenegrin passengers after their flight from Podgorica.
