KFOR Intensifies Preparations for Potential Gaza Mission

Kosovo Defense Minister Ejup Madecadonci has discussed ongoing preparations for a potential mission to Gaza, speaking to Kosova Live on April 20, 2026. The interview, broadcast on Kosova Live, detailed the current state of readiness within the Kosovo Security Forces (KFOR). Madecadonci stated that KFOR troops are undergoing continuous training, aligning operations with established international standards for deployments abroad.

He affirmed the alliance’s preparedness to engage should institutional procedures be completed. The minister highlighted the critical need for a formal decision to proceed, specifically awaiting a decree from the acting president, Albulena Haxhiu. This decree is required to authorize the deployment of KFOR forces on this mission.

KFOR’s involvement remains contingent upon the fulfillment of all necessary legal and procedural steps. The ministry continues to focus on ensuring the troops are fully prepared for any potential operational requirements related to the ongoing situation in Gaza. The announcement underscores the continued vigilance and strategic planning within KFOR regarding this complex international scenario.
