The Constitutional Court has ruled on the case involving former President Ilir Meta, who was seeking to overturn a decision by three lower courts ordering his pre-trial detention in prison. In a majority vote, the court dismissed Meta’s request for a change in his security measures. Meta’s legal challenge centered on the manner in which the security measure was implemented.
However, the Constitutional Court determined that he had previously raised this argument before other courts. The court noted that Meta had filed a complaint with the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office alleging arbitrary actions by prosecutors, and that matter is currently under investigation. The Constitutional Court’s decision, reached by a majority vote, did not address this specific aspect of the case.
The court determined that the lower courts had not made a ruling on the issue, according to a report by Top Channel. The case involves Meta’s ongoing legal battle regarding his pre-trial detention.
