Kurti Rejects Election Solution, Gruda Criticizes Response
Prishtina – Kosovar Prime Minister Albin Kurti has reiterated his stance against holding new elections, following a statement asserting that elections are not the solution to the current political impasse. The position has drawn criticism from PDK Member of Parliament Përmban Gruda. Gruda argued that Kurti’s continued resistance extends beyond a simple refusal, citing the Prime Minister’s utilization of an additional 34 days granted by the Constitutional Court.
He asserted that Kurti’s actions represent a misuse of the opportunity. Kurti, in a social media post on Facebook, defended his position. He pointed to the previous period, stating that seven days were dedicated to international travel and the remaining three weeks yielded no substantive attempts at resolving the situation.
Kurti further suggested that with only one week remaining, political pronouncements hold diminished significance, attributing this to what he described as “destructive actions” following two prior electoral rounds. The election of a president remains a constitutional obligation, according to Kurti. The debate centers on the path forward for Kosovo’s political process, with Kurti firmly stating he does not believe elections are the answer.
