Hague Court Extends Deadline for UÇK Commander Case; 200,000 Signatures Submitted

The Special Court in The Hague has granted an extension to the deadline for announcing the verdict in the case involving former commanders of the Organization of War Veterans of the National Liberation Army (UÇK). Hysni Gucati, Chairman of UÇK, announced today that 200,000 signatures had been submitted in support of the former commanders. According to Gucati, these signatures represent “200,000 voices that echo a single request – justice for the liberators.” He characterized the submission as “the pure will of a nation that does not forget the sacrifice.”

Gucati expressed confidence in the conduct of the UÇK during the Kosovo conflict and stated a desire for the former commanders to return to Kosovo this summer.

The Special Court confirmed the extension of the deadline for the verdict announcement. “With unwavering faith in the pure war of UÇK, we wish and hope that this summer the sun will be born differently – with our commanders,” Gucati added. The movement to gather signatures, spearheaded by Gucati, highlights continued calls for a resolution to the legal proceedings concerning the UÇK’s role in the conflict.
