Hamza Criticizes Kurti’s Offer Regarding Presidential Role
Kosovo Democratic Party (PDK) leader Bedri Hamza presented details of Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s latest proposal concerning the selection of the country’s president on April 20, 2026. Hamza outlined the PDK’s ongoing stance and the sequence of discussions with Kurti. According to Hamza, he received a direct message from Kurti today via WhatsApp.
The offer involves the exchange of the current Deputy Speaker position currently held by the PDK, in return for the role of Speaker of the Assembly. Hamza asserted that this proposed exchange is fundamentally anti-constitutional. He emphasized that the Constitution of Kosovo stipulates that the position of Speaker of the Assembly should be held by the largest parliamentary group resulting from the election outcome.
