Kosovo Parliament Speaker Refuses PDK Deputy Speaking Time
Pristina – During a recent parliamentary session, Speaker of the Kosovo Parliament, Albulena Haxhiu, denied PDK deputy Ferat Shala the opportunity to speak on the floor. Shala initiated his attempt to address the session within the allocated timeframe, however, Haxhiu intervened to prevent him from speaking. According to sources, Haxhiu stated that she could not authorize Shala to speak without her explicit approval.
“Sit down in your seat instead of not taking the floor without giving the floor,” Haxhiu explained. “This matter is done. I read the rules and see who is responsible for giving the floor.”
The Speaker emphasized that her actions were rooted in respect for the institution of parliament.
She clarified that the decision was not motivated by personal animosity, but rather a commitment to upholding established parliamentary procedures. The incident highlights a procedural matter within the Kosovo Parliament. Haxhiu’s role in controlling access to the floor underscores the established rules governing speaking time and the Speaker’s responsibility in managing parliamentary sessions.
The PDK deputy, Ferat Shala, was present during the session.
