President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, attended memorial ceremonies today commemorating the 27th anniversary of the Rezallë and surrounding village massacre, which occurred in 1999. During the event, dozens of men and boys were killed by Serbian forces. In her address, Haxhiu described the event as a ruthless genocide.
“On April 5th, 1999, in Rezallë of Skenderaj and the surrounding villages, a plan of extermination was carried out by the Serbian regime. Young men and boys between the ages of 13 and 90 were separated from their families and subsequently executed,” she stated. Haxhiu emphasized that the Serbian regime attempted to conceal the evidence of the crimes.
