Hospital cases for eye and musculoskeletal diseases are increasing

According to the latest analytical report for 2025, healthcare utilization saw notable trends regarding specific categories of illness. Over the past year, a total of approximately 194,000 hospital treatments were administered across 62 healthcare institutions. The average length of stay during these admissions was reported to be under five days, with the total cost to the health system amounting to 32 billion denars.

Analysis of the admissions data indicates that the most significant increases in hospital cases were observed within the categories of eye diseases and musculoskeletal system diseases, both exceeding a 20 percent rise compared to previous periods. Officials attributed this heightened activity partly to increased efforts aimed at reducing waiting lists for procedures such as cataract operations and similar specialized interventions. In contrast to these increases, the report documented declines in other areas of care.

Hospitalizations related to cardiovascular diseases saw a modest decrease of 3 percent. Furthermore, admissions linked to pregnancy and childbirth showed a reduction of 7.5 percent. Overall, the data suggests a shifting pattern in the burden of illness requiring inpatient care.

The high volume of admissions for eye conditions and musculoskeletal issues highlights the current focus of medical resources in these areas. The statistics provide a comprehensive overview of the utilization patterns across various diseases managed within the regional hospital network during the reporting year.
