Illegal trafficking of harmful medical products, three people were arrested in North Macedonia.

Authorities Seize Products Suspected of Illegal Medical Trafficking

The Sector for Control and Investigation has apprehended three individuals, including the owner of a beauty salon, in connection with suspected trafficking of harmful medical preparations. The operation unfolded at the Tabanocë border crossing, resulting in the discovery of 535 bottles of slimming agents and 7,400 labels concealed within bedsheets. Following the initial discovery, authorities initiated surveillance and tracked the vehicle to its delivery location.

The owner was subsequently arrested during the exchange of payment for the shipment. A subsequent inspection of the salon revealed the presence of dermal fillers and other aesthetic treatment preparations. Crucially, no documentation verifying the safety or legal import of these products was located.

Investigators suspect the preparations may have been utilized on clients receiving aesthetic treatments. Charges have been formally filed against the suspects, and the investigation remains active. Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the distribution of these potentially harmful medical products and exploring any potential misuse.

The ongoing investigation aims to determine the full scope of the operation and ensure accountability.
