Prices in Kosovo rose by six percent in June when compared to the same period in the previous year. Data released by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (ASK) indicated that price increases were observed across a wide array of goods and services, spanning sectors from transport to culture. The ASK detailed that the most significant increase was recorded in the transport sector, which rose by 13.7 percent.
Following this, alcoholic beverages saw a price increase of 3.9 percent. The agency attributed the overall rise in prices to several key COICOP groups. These groups included transport (13.7 percent), accommodation, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (11.1 percent), alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and narcotics (5.1 percent), and restaurants and accommodation services (4.5 percent).
Further increases were noted in health (4.1 percent) and non-alcoholic food and beverages (3.9 percent). Conversely, the report noted a decrease in prices within the educational services group. Overall, the data provides a detailed breakdown of the inflationary pressures across various sectors, with the transport category contributing notably to the overall inflation rate measured by the percent change in prices.
