Ivan Rakitic, the former Barcelona midfielder, believes Real Madrid’s dominance in the Champions League “cannot be explained,” emphasizing the club’s consistent performance as the primary driver of its success. “It’s very clear… when you do things well, they give results, and Real Madrid is doing many things very well.”
Rakitic acknowledged differing opinions surrounding figures like Álvaro Arbeloa and the club’s playing style, but stressed the importance of results. “I understand there are different opinions about Álvaro Arbeloa, Real Madrid, the style of play, and everything else, but the results are there, and this is not by chance.”
He argued that players don’t simply receive success at Real Madrid without effort.
“No player goes to Real Madrid and is given something on a plate. When you do things as you should, football rewards you, and when you don’t, it doesn’t forgive.”
Rakitic reiterated his previous assessment following the match against Manchester City, stating that “you have to be very careful with Real Madrid.” He maintained that the Spanish club remains a clear favorite going into any contest.
