High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, stated that frequent elections in Kosovo are the primary reason for the prolonged lack of a new dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade at the level of leaders. Speaking to reporters, Kallas confirmed that both Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Kosovan Prime Minister Albin Kurti have expressed willingness to hold a meeting as part of the dialogue process. However, she indicated that the recent announcement of early elections in Kosovo has once again stalled the process.
“We had indeed planned a dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina – a high-level political dialogue. We had the agreement of both leaders – from Kosovo and from Serbia – but now Kosovo’s elections are approaching again, which naturally pushes the process back.”
