KEK case: Ymer Dragusha sentenced to two years in prison for abuse of office

The Basic Court in Pristina has found Ymer Dragushë, the former head of the prosecution at KEK, guilty of four counts of abuse of position or official authority committed in concert. As a result, the court sentenced him to a total of two years in prison. The judgment detailed that Dragushë received a one-year sentence for the first charge, supplemented by an eight-month sentence for each of the remaining three charges.

During the announcement of the verdict, a statement confirmed that, pursuant to Article 76 of the Penal Code, the defendant was sentenced to a cumulative custodial sentence of two years. This sentence is set to be served within 15 days of the judgment becoming final. Additionally, the Basic Court directed the State Attorney’s Office to proceed with the legal appeal request related to the case.

The ruling marks a significant legal action concerning misconduct within the prosecution services. The finding of guilt regarding the abuse of official authority has resulted in the immediate imposition of a term of incarceration.
