Authorities in Italy have escalated investigations into the alleged killing of a Berber man, Francesco Diviesti, which reportedly occurred over a year ago. Diviesti’s body was found burned in an isolated area within Alta Murgia. The incident is linked to an alleged dispute over a 500 euro debt owed to an Albanian national named Igli Kamberi.
In a significant development, 15 personal security measures were executed on the subject of the investigation. These actions were authorized by the investigating judge (GIP) in Bari and by the judge of the Special Court of the First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime in Tirana. These measures stem from coordinated investigations involving the Bari Anti-Mafia District Directorate and the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Corruption and Organized Crime in Albania.
The scope of the ongoing inquiry in Italy and Albania is broad, encompassing multiple serious criminal allegations. Investigators are examining charges related to the homicide, attempted robbery, and the illegal possession and carrying of firearms and ammunition. Furthermore, the investigation includes looking into any potential involvement in assisting parties following the commission of a crime.
The coordinated legal action underscores the transnational nature of the criminal elements connected to the initial violent incident in Italy.
