Konjufca Attributes Strained Relations with Osmani to Government Criticism
Prishtina – Glauk Konjufca, leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, has indicated a significant deterioration in relations with former President Vjosa Osmani, beginning in 2024. Konjufca characterized a parliamentary statement made by Osmani as an “open attack” against the current Albin Kurti government. According to Konjufca, Osmani’s remarks at the close of 2024, specifically her criticism of the government’s approach to US relations, represented a fundamental divergence between her views and those of Vetëvendosje.
He noted that cooperation between the two figures had been more productive during the period of 2022 and 2023. “The period 2022-2023 had been better in terms of cooperation with Osmani, but that then came the moment of ‘break,’” Konjufca stated. He attributed this shift to a growing divide in strategic direction.
Konjufca’s comments highlight a contentious period in the relationship between the former president and the ruling government, suggesting a significant ideological difference that emerged following Osmani’s public criticism. The situation underscores the ongoing political dynamics within Kosovo’s leadership.
