Kosovo Customs seizes 128 pairs of branded shoes at the border crossing

Kosovo Customs authorities recently confiscated a shipment of 128 pairs of branded shoes suspected of violating intellectual property rights. The seizure took place during the evening hours, specifically around 10:00 PM, at the Hani i Elezit Border Crossing Point. Officials conducting routine operations stopped a vehicle bearing local license plates after conducting a risk analysis and exercising their legal authority.

During a physical inspection of the vehicle’s luggage, the shoes were discovered. Authorities noted that the driver could not provide any documentation verifying the origin of the merchandise, its legal importation status, or the right to circulate the goods within Kosovo. In response to the findings, Kosovo Customs initiated formal customs countervailing procedures.

Consequently, the seized goods have been detained pending further investigation and procedural review, adhering strictly to current national legislation. Officials stated that these inspections are ongoing and are designed to ensure compliance with intellectual property laws. The action underscores the ongoing efforts by customs agencies to prevent the circulation of counterfeit or unauthorized goods.

The detention of the shoes serves as part of a broader enforcement effort by customs to protect local markets and uphold intellectual property standards within Kosovo.
