Kosovo expects a record winter season; Kurti launches the harvest-sowing campaign in Podujevë

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Development commenced the annual harvest-sowing campaign at Malësor Sejdiu’s 140-hectare farm in Podujevë. Officials stated that the current spring is anticipated to yield one of the most successful seasons for grain production across Kosovo. During the event, the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, highlighted Malësor Sejdiu’s farm as an exemplar of contemporary agricultural advancement.

Kurti attributed the observed successes to strategic investments, meticulous planning, and robust institutional backing. He provided figures indicating that this year, over 75,000 hectares of white cereals have been planted throughout Kosovo, with approximately 72,000 hectares specifically dedicated to wheat cultivation. Kurti emphasized that such achievements demonstrate the sector’s trajectory toward modernization and increased competitiveness.

According to the statements, the combination of serious capital investment, sustained long-term planning, and governmental support is guiding the agricultural sector in a significantly more modern direction. The commencement of the harvest cycle underscores the national focus on bolstering food security and agricultural output. By showcasing advanced farming methodologies at this scale, the government aims to reassure stakeholders of the sector’s stability and potential for growth in the coming harvest season.

The initiative serves to promote best practices across rural economies within Kosovo.
