Former Prime Minister and current LSDM deputy, Dimitar Kovačevski, assessed the French proposal, describing it as a favorable and balanced solution that does not compromise Macedonian identity. Speaking on “Samo Vistina” on “Kanal 5,” Kovačevski emphasized the necessity of maintaining a firm stance regarding the nation’s history. “I do not believe we should renounce anything from our history within the Historical Commission or any other commission.
We must stick to our stance regarding our history,” he stated. Kovačevski asserted that the Macedonian viewpoint on history is immutable, adding, “No one can change the Macedonian viewpoint on history. No one can touch our identity, because this is our identity.
No one can stop us from being Macedonian.”
Furthermore, he addressed the matter of veto power, asserting that its reintroduction is outside the scope of the current negotiating framework. Kovačevski also noted that negotiations with Bulgaria ceased because the country failed to recognize the Macedonian language within the European Union. The overall message conveyed was a strong commitment to preserving core aspects of our history and identity while evaluating the merits of the presented proposal.
