Kryeziu: For a stable government, there must be an LVV-PDK coalition

Former member of the Constitutional Court, Kadri Kryeziu, has indicated that the political entities within the Parliament must concurrently address three key matters: the election of the Speaker of the Parliament, the formation of the government, and the election of Kosovo’s next President. Speaking to Tv Dukagjini, Kryeziu noted that while constitutional procedures mandate that the Parliament and the government must be established first, the presidential election cannot proceed without a broad political accord. According to Kryeziu, “First, the Parliament must be constituted and the government decided, and later the President must also be elected within constitutional deadlines.

This cannot happen without a full and serious agreement or consensus among the largest Albanian political parties in Kosovo.”

Kryeziu stressed that achieving a stable government and ensuring the proper functioning of state institutions requires such consensus. He suggested that the interlocking nature of these processes means that progress on one area is contingent upon agreements in the others. The former court member’s assessment implies that political deadlock on any of these fronts could impede the constitutional timeline for electing a new president.

Therefore, he argues that consensus among major political factions is a prerequisite for advancing the constitutional roadmap for Kosovo’s leadership.
