Kosovo Government Signs Agreement to Rebuild Ibri Mosque
Pristina, Kosovo – Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, alongside Minister Saranda Bogujevci and BIK head Naim Tërnava, formally signed an agreement on February 2nd, 2026, to initiate the reconstruction of the Ibri Mosque. The signing marks a significant step in the government’s efforts to preserve cultural heritage within Kosovo. The agreement, formalized through a memorandum of understanding, outlines the government’s support for the restoration of the historically and culturally important Ibri Mosque.
Kurti emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that it reflects the government’s ongoing dedication to safeguarding Kosovo’s heritage. The project follows damage sustained to numerous cultural sites during the 1998-1999 conflict. “These commitments are part of our continued commitment to protecting cultural heritage in the country,” Kurti stated in a subsequent announcement.
