Following discussions regarding the selection of a candidate for the presidency, Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti met with the leader of the League of Social Democrats of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, on Monday. The meeting centered on efforts to identify a suitable candidate. Following the meeting, Abdixhiku stated that the LDK is seeking a path forward and a candidate with the aim of avoiding new elections.
He declined to provide detailed information about the discussions with Kurti, emphasizing that the matter of selecting a presidential candidate was not the primary focus. Abdixhiku reiterated the LDK’s position that the next president should not come from the ranks of Vetëvendosje (Self-Determination). The LDK continues to pursue a solution that guarantees a minimum number of necessary votes.
