Lushaku-Sadriu responds to Nagavci: You have the name, show us if you have 66 votes.

LDK and Vetëvendosje Continue Discussions Over Presidential Candidacy

Kosovo’s ongoing debate over the selection of a new president saw continued exchanges between the ruling Vetëvendosje Movement (VV) and the opposition Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) on Sunday evening. The discussion centers around a proposal for a joint candidate and the process of securing the necessary parliamentary votes. Jehona Lushaku-Sadriu, the head of the LDK Parliamentary Group, responded to a statement by VV leader Arbërie Nagavci.

Through a Facebook post, Lushaku-Sadriu asserted that the LDK’s proposal is not novel and that the responsibility for advancing the process rests with the ruling party. “Did you want names? You have the name.

Do you have 66 votes!” Lushaku-Sadriu stated, referencing the candidacy of Vjosa Osmani, which had been suggested by LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku. Nagavci previously indicated that the LDK had withdrawn from consideration for the presidential role. She stated that the VV remains awaiting proposals from both the LDK and the PDK.

The core of the dispute remains the securing of a majority within the Kosovo Parliament to elect a president. The involvement of key figures like Jehona lushaku-sadriu highlights the complex negotiations currently underway between the two major political parties.
