Memedi: Mortality rate at the Children’s Clinic has been halved

The Children’s Clinic in Skopje has reported the lowest recorded mortality rate among its pediatric patients in the last seventeen years. Rexhep Memedi, the director of the clinic, highlighted the encouraging figures from the first quarter of the current year, noting a mortality rate of 0.27 percent. This figure represents a significant decrease compared to the rate recorded in the preceding year.

Memedi provided historical context to illustrate the improvement in patient outcomes. He detailed that between 2014 and 2026, the overall percentage of deceased patients relative to those hospitalized stood at 1.51 percent. Furthermore, the clinic observed a notable decline in the mortality rate in 2015, which registered at 0.51 percent.

The director also contrasted current findings with earlier periods. He stated that from 2009, when the clinic’s information system was implemented, through 2013, the mortality rate was consistently elevated, exceeding one percent annually. The data from the first quarter of this year is cited as particularly encouraging, confirming the low death rate of 0.27 percent.

These statistics suggest a marked improvement in patient care and outcomes for children at the institution. The consistently lower mortality rate across multiple years, culminating in the recent quarter’s performance, indicates a positive trend in the management of pediatric cases at the Skopje Children’s Clinic.
