Tehran – Following his appointment as Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei has remained largely absent from public view, prompting ongoing speculation about his condition. Deputy for International Affairs at the Supreme Leader’s office, Mohsen Qomi, offered a statement regarding Khamenei’s survival following the attack that resulted in the death of his father and predecessor, Ali Khamenei, at the outset of the conflict.

According to Mehr, Khamenei was present within a building targeted by bombing at that time, where casualties occurred. Qomi stated, “He was in the building at that time, in the same building that was bombed and where those inside were martyred. A few minutes ago, by chance…”
