The Ministry of Interior of North Macedonia has reported significant declines in criminal activity, noting that the country’s crime rate is at its lowest point within the last 20 years. Furthermore, the data indicates that overall crime has seen a reduction of 30 percent over the last two years. According to the Ministry, law enforcement efficiency in identifying criminal acts and apprehending perpetrators has reached 69 percent.
In efforts to combat organized crime, authorities have targeted over 30 such groups during this period. Notably, the number of groups discovered in connection with corruption has increased by 50 percent. The Ministry also provided detailed statistics regarding drug trafficking operations.
Authorities successfully uncovered more than 1,600 criminal acts related to narcotics. In connection with these seizures, approximately 1,900 individuals have been charged, resulting in the seizure of 6.2 tons of narcotics. Additionally, nine international shipments of marijuana and cocaine were prevented from entering the country.
These figures underscore a sustained focus on tackling serious criminal elements and improving public safety across the nation.
