LVV Offers Consensus Candidate in Presidential Election Standoff
Prishtina – Arbërie Nagavci, the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement’s parliamentary group (LVV), announced a new initiative aimed at resolving the ongoing deadlock in the presidential election process. The Vetëvendosje movement has called for the withdrawal of the current candidacy and proposed a collaborative approach involving the largest opposition parties. Nagavci stated that LVV has extended an invitation to the PDK and LDK to submit three candidate proposals that prioritize a consensus.
These proposals, she explained, should originate outside the traditional political sphere and feature individuals with established integrity and a demonstrable record of service. Despite public statements from PDK and LDK regarding their willingness to engage, LVV maintains it has not yet received any formally accepted proposals outlining their offer for a consensus presidential candidate. Prime Minister Albin Hoti indicated that the government intends to return to Parliament for the final two days of deliberations, with the potential outcome being the selection of a new president or the calling of early elections.
The situation remains fluid as parties continue to negotiate a path forward in the presidential election. The Vetëvendosje movement, led by nagavci, continues to advocate for a solution through consensus, while the government, through lvv, is focused on securing a parliamentary outcome.
