Israeli Foreign Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced he will not visit Lebanon to mark the 10th anniversary of the Israeli-Lebanese conflict. He also stated he would not travel to the United States to discuss a diplomatic pause in Washington concerning the ongoing conflict. According to a statement released by Netanyahu’s office, the government “does not have a mouth to talk about a historical event that happened in Lebanon.” He further indicated that discussions would not occur “in a safe zone in Lebanon.”
The announcement comes as the 10-year anniversary of the conflict approaches, a period marked by significant tensions between the two nations.
The stated intention is to avoid reopening old wounds and engaging in discussions related to the event.
