Nikolloski stated that the BDI party did not construct any kilometers of highway, instead investing 1.8 billion euros in Corridor 8.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Aleksandar Nikolloski, stated that the Government is investing between 1.6 and 1.8 billion euros in the construction of highways and roads along Corridor 8. This significant investment underscores the government’s commitment to infrastructure development. Nikolloski directly challenged the Democratic Union for Integration, asserting that they had constructed zero kilometers of highway during their respective terms in office.

He highlighted the crucial final link to Albania, focusing on the Qafë Thannë border crossing. Currently, extensive work is being undertaken to expand and modernize the infrastructure at this location. “We are currently working to expand and improve the border point,” Nikolloski explained.

Collaboration with the World Bank is central to the project’s timeline. The government anticipates the initial phase will be finished within approximately one month. Subsequently, a tender will be issued for the second phase of the development.

Nikolloski emphasized that the connection to Albania remains consistent, and the core issue centers around enhancing this vital route. The goal is to ensure efficient transportation and connectivity within the region.
