A sustained opposition protest in Tirana led to multiple injuries following escalating tensions with law enforcement. Four individuals were taken to Trauma Hospital for treatment after clashes erupted near the Prime Minister’s Office and the Mosque of Prayer. Among those injured is a police officer, while the remaining three are protesters.
These include Member of Parliament Luciano Boçi and Aulon Kalaja, who are currently reported to be in stable condition. Further injuries were sustained by Member of Parliament Klevis Balliu, who was treated following exposure to tear gas and water discharged by police personnel. The protest initially centered in front of the Prime Minister’s Office before shifting towards attempts to breach a police cordon preventing access to Parliament buildings.
Throughout the demonstration, police deployed a water cannon in an effort to disperse the crowd. Witnesses report ongoing clashes between protesters and security forces. Authorities have maintained a strong presence to manage the situation and ensure access to the parliamentary area.
