The United Hospital’s orthopedics department, in collaboration with Qerim Kida, has launched a podcast series titled “Shënëti në rend të parë” to address the serious issue of osteoporosis and osteopenia. These conditions are prevalent in Kosovo, impacting a significant portion of the population. According to available statistics, osteoporosis affects approximately 50% of the population, while osteopenia affects 30%.
Qerim Kida, the orthopedist behind the podcast, emphasizes the importance of recognizing these conditions as a serious health concern. “Statistics show that osteoporosis and osteopenia affect 30% of the population, and osteoporosis affects 50% of the population,” Kida stated. He is currently in private practice and highlights the widespread nature of the problem.
The podcast serves as an initiative by the United Hospital to increase public awareness regarding osteoporosis and osteopenia. The goal is to educate individuals, particularly those over the age of 50, about the prevalence and potential impact of these conditions.
