Kosovo Police Increase Road Safety Checks in Gjilan Region
The Kosovo Police, operating through the Regional Directorate in Gjilan, has intensified its efforts to improve road safety with increased checks on motorcycle, scooter, and bicycle drivers. These heightened inspections are part of ongoing operational plans implemented across the Gjilan region’s area of responsibility. During the period of April 1st to April 30th, 2026, the police conducted a significant number of roadside checks.
A substantial volume of traffic violations were identified, resulting in the issuance of hundreds of fines. Specifically, 95 fines were issued for operating motorcycles, scooters, and bicycles without the required driver’s license. Furthermore, 149 fines were levied against unregistered vehicles, and 65 fines were issued to operators not wearing helmets while operating motorcycles.
As part of the enforcement efforts, the police removed 161 motorcycles from traffic, effectively confiscating them. Fines were concurrently issued in relation to these vehicles. The increased police presence in Gjilan reflects a commitment to reducing road accidents and ensuring driver compliance with traffic regulations.
