Four years ago, Porsche had projected that electric vehicles would represent more than 80 percent of its sales by the end of the current decade. However, with the present date being 2026, this ambitious target has already been conceded. The anticipated growth in electric car sales since early 2022 has not materialized as initially predicted.
Last year, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for 22.2 percent of all deliveries. Despite the introduction of an electric Cayenne model, the original 80 percent goal remains a considerable distance away. Porsche has now shifted its strategy, abandoning such high targets for electric vehicles.
Instead, the company is concentrating on the continued development of long-term internal combustion engines. Furthermore, Porsche has announced plans for a new gasoline-powered crossover, intended to serve as a replacement for the first-generation Macan. This change reflects a pragmatic approach to the evolving automotive market, prioritizing established technologies within the porsche vehicle lineup.
