Pressure mounts on Abdixhiku, and the II Branch in Pristina also demands his removal

The II Branch of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) in Pristina has called for the resignation of party leader Lumir Abdixhiku. This move comes after similar calls were made by the Peja and Lipjan branches. In a public statement, the Pristina branch asserted that the LDK is navigating one of the most challenging periods in its history.

The statement highlighted that Kosovo is confronting significant political difficulties and noted that the LDK’s political influence is diminishing following a series of election defeats. The branch stated, “Following successive losses, the LDK is slipping towards political marginalization, cementing itself in a third position and transforming into a party without the proper political and state-building weight.”

Consequently, the II Branch demanded the removal of Abdixhiku, along with other leaders. The group argued that the current political climate necessitates deep reflection and decisive action from the party’s leadership.

The branch emphasized that the current trajectory requires a significant change in leadership to address the perceived decline in the party’s standing. This formal demand, issued by the II Branch, underscores internal dissent regarding the party’s strategic direction and its perceived inability to maintain its previous political stature.
