Former OSCE Official Faces Espionage Charges in Pristina Court

Pristina – In the Basic Court of Pristina, the final statements concluded Thursday in the trial of Jelena Gjukanoviq, a former OSCE official, accused of espionage. The prosecution is seeking a maximum sentence following evidence presented that confirms Gjukanoviq’s involvement in providing assistance to the Serbian intelligence service, the BIA. Special Prosecutor Bekim Kodraliu delivered the final statement, asserting that the evidence definitively supports the allegations outlined in the indictment.

Kodraliu highlighted that Gjukanoviq’s actions were deliberate and undertaken with full knowledge of the potential consequences, specifically assisting the BIA by supplying sensitive documents. The defense team has countered by requesting Gjukanoviq’s release. The court is now considering the arguments presented by both sides.

The prosecution is continuing to seek a maximum sentence for Gjukanoviq, citing the seriousness of the charges related to espionage and collaboration with a foreign intelligence agency. The case remains ongoing as the court prepares to deliver its verdict.
