Rashiti: Early Elections in Kosovo Do Not Guarantee Stability

Kosovo is currently grappling with a significant political and institutional crisis, leading to scheduled early parliamentary elections. According to Naim Rashiti, Director of the Balkan Group for Policies in Pristina, these elections do not inherently guarantee stability within the country. In an interview with Radio Free Europe, Rashiti characterized the situation as “a systematic political and institutional crisis” from the perspective of the international community.

He emphasized that this ongoing instability hinders Kosovo’s ability to effectively engage in negotiations with international actors. Rashiti stated that the situation compromises Kosovo’s standing as a negotiator regarding key international agendas, including potential membership in the European Union and regional collaborations. He asserted that Kosovo has experienced a decline in credibility with international factors over a sustained period.

“Kosova,” Rashiti explained, “has lost credibility with international factors for years.” The upcoming early elections are viewed by analysts as a necessary step, but not a solution to the underlying systemic challenges facing the nation.
