Regarding negotiations VV-LDK: We have not come out to negotiate for anyone else, we were invited to come with the name for President.

VV-LDK Negotiations Remain Focused on Candidate Nomination

Pristina – The League for the Future of Kosovo (lDK) has stated it will not engage in negotiations for any candidate beyond a specific name, following an invitation to provide a proposal. The statement, released through Deputy Chairman Lutfi Haziri, comes after Gazeta Express reported on April 18, 2026, regarding discussions between the lDK and Vetëvendosje. According to Haziri, the lDK possesses several potential candidates for the position of President of Kosovo, contingent upon reconciliation between the lDK, led by Lumir Abdixhik, and Vetëvendosje, led by Albin Kurti.

However, the party maintains it will not advance any names until a bipartite agreement is established. Haziri clarified that the lDK does not hold a vote for Vetëvendosje-backed candidates and that avenues for a consensus candidate encompassing all political parties have been largely exhausted. The former Mayor of Gjilan was previously cited as a possible candidate, but the lDK has indicated they will not proceed without a broader agreement.

The lDK has stated they not come to negotiate for anyone else. This development reflects the ongoing challenges in reaching a consensus on a presidential candidate within Kosovo’s political landscape.

  1. It’s frustrating to see these talks remain so narrowly focused on a single presidential candidate.
